Recently I’ve been reflecting on shame.
What is shame to you? For me, it’s the heaviness that hangs around my head. It envelopes me, perhaps it even comforts me. It pulls me close and keeps my eyes on the ground. It tells me to keep my hand down even when I really want to raise it high. My shame keeps me small.
What is shame to you? Is there a particular moment, an event for you? Is it generational? Does it hold its own legacy in your life?
If you feel comfortable sharing, I have an anonymous contact section open on my website waiting to hear you out.
Head over to the contact section, fill out a phony first and last name and please share anything and everything. Again I have no way of knowing your identity.
Your stories, thoughts, and secrets will be used to fuel and underscore a new work. Your shame is now sacred to me and will be respected as such. Thank you.
